Around 15 million years ago, an asteroid with a small satellite collided with southern Germany. This impact gave birth to moldavite, a natural green glass.

The collision unleashed immense energy, forming a crater approximately 15 miles in diameter. At temperatures exceeding 4,352°F, the meteorite and the ground vaporized, creating a mixed gas that rapidly cooled and solidified in the upper atmosphere—giving rise to moldavite.

Imagine this dramatic scene: moldavite raining down onto the smoldering earth, scattering as far as 280 miles from the crater. The inspiring presence of moldavite forms the core of this incense’s narrative.

When held up to sunlight, you can see shimmering moldavite particles within the incense. As it burns, the moldavite remains, blending into the ash—allowing the incense ash to carry on the story.

The core of the fragrance in Cosmic Memory is amber, a key scent material representing the Maya and Aztec civilizations of Central and South America. Amber, formed from fossilized tree resin over countless ages, was seen by the Maya as a substance that holds the Earth's memories.

The inspiration for this incense was shaped by a firsthand experience of a traditional ritual in which amber is burned to "release its memories through flame." By combining memory-bearing amber with meteorite-born moldavite, we created the artistic concept of "Memories of the Cosmos."

Amber, in its natural state, has no scent. The moment it ignites, it transforms from scentless to fragrant, creating a beautifully natural experience. While the copal featured in our World Travel series is amber from deciduous trees, the amber used in Cosmic Memory comes from coniferous trees.

Additionally, this incense contains shungite, a unique carbon-based mineral that formed nearly 2 billion years ago—either from ancient plankton deposits or as a byproduct of a meteorite impact. It is the only naturally occurring substance known to contain fullerenes, which have the ability to neutralize large amounts of reactive oxygen species.

The addition of shungite has allowed our blending to achieve even greater precision. We invite you to admire the beauty of the drifting smoke.

Scent is often described using taste-related terms—such as "sweet fragrance." However, Cosmic Memory carries no perceivable taste, offering a purely olfactory experience that cannot be substituted with taste-based descriptions. Through this incense, we hope to enrich daily life by drawing clearer distinctions between scent and taste—two senses that are often unconsciously intertwined.
